Foundation for Education and Research in Nature Science and Sustainability (FERNSS)


FERNSS is a Bengaluru-based foundation working to grow awareness and learning around ecology, biodiversity, and sustainability. The team works with schools, colleges, and communities to help young people understand the natural world and take part in protecting it. Their work covers environment, climate, energy, water, and sanitation.
Role
Support FERNSS in running awareness sessions, school and college programmes, field surveys, and project documentation. This is an early-career role for someone who cares about nature, enjoys working with students, and is happy to be in classrooms one day and in the field the next.
Responsibilities
- Lead engaging sessions on biodiversity, sustainability, and environmental topics for students from Class 1 to Class 12 and college groups.
- Adapt your style and language to suit different age groups and learning levels.
- Plan and coordinate programmes, workshops, competitions, and field activities.
- Take part in field surveys and data collection, on your own or as part of a team.
- Support project documentation, reports, and communication tasks.
- Travel within and outside Bengaluru for outreach and fieldwork as needed.
Requirements
- Freshers or early-career professionals with an interest in environment, ecology, or sustainability are welcome.
- A background in life sciences, environmental studies, or a related field is preferred but not required. Genuine interest matters more than formal qualifications.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Fluency in Kannada is an added advantage.
- Comfortable working with students and field teams.
- Responsible, self-motivated, and eager to learn and grow.
- Willingness to travel for outreach and field assignments.
