SBMA is an independent organization that works with the people of Uttarakhand Himalayas. The ashram evolved out of years of community struggle and in the activist tumult of the 1960's and '70s, the people of Garhwal, especially women, gave voice to their frustration against bad governance and superstition. As a platform for their struggle Swamiji founded SBMA in 1977. SBMA is an integral part of 2000 communities served by more than 300 staff members and 436 volunteers, working with 18 projects in collaboration with 25 different partners covering all the Districts Of Uttarakhand.
Role
The School Facilitator makes learning fun and effective for children. You will work directly in schools to support teachers, engage students in creative activities, and bridge the gap between the school and the local community.
Responsibilities
- Lead activity-based learning sessions and promote life skills, hygiene, and gender awareness.
- Coordinate with teachers to improve classroom methods and create child-friendly environments.
- Organize student groups, Baal Sansads, and sports activities to encourage participation.
- Identify students who need extra help and provide remedial education support.
- Manage relationships with Parents, School Management Committees, and local Anganwadi workers.
- Execute weekly project plans and ensure all activities meet the organization’s timelines.
- Document progress through attendance records, session reports, and inspiring case studies.
- Support the Project Officer by organizing teacher training workshops and volunteer activities.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Experience working in schools or community-based education projects.
- Fluency in Hindi and a good understanding of the local community context in Uttarakhand.
- Basic computer skills for maintaining records, writing reports, and capturing photos.
- Strong communication skills to talk effectively with children, teachers, and parents.
- A passion for child rights and a commitment to humanitarian values.
- Ability to travel locally within Haridwar to visit assigned schools.
