Skoll Foundation
The Skoll Foundation seeks to catalyze transformational social change by investing in, connecting, and championing social entrepreneurs and other social innovators who together advance bold solutions to the world’s most pressing problems. Jeff Skoll, the first employee and first President of eBay, created the Skoll Foundation in 1999 to pursue his vision of a sustainable world of peace and prosperity for all.
As of December 31, 2024, the Skoll Foundation has invested more than $1.3 billion worldwide, including Skoll Awards for Social Entrepreneurship and the Skoll Global Threats Fund. Skoll also operates the annual Skoll World Forum, the premier conference on social entrepreneurship, and shares the stories of social entrepreneurs through partnerships with leading media organizations to drive awareness of social entrepreneurship and its potential to address the critical issues of our time.
We invest in social entrepreneurs and other social innovators around the world who offer a compelling vision, creative solutions, and proven approaches. We support partners who are strengthening global health through community health workers, curbing deforestation by securing Indigenous land rights, and expanding economic opportunity by supporting smallholder agriculture and advancing girls’ education.
The foundation works across several key sectors to foster a more sustainable and peaceful world:
- Climate Change: Supporting initiatives that reduce carbon emissions and protect natural ecosystems.
- Pandemic Prevention: Investing in systems that detect and respond to global health threats.
- Inclusive Economy: Promoting economic systems that provide opportunities for marginalized communities.
- Effective Governance: Strengthening democratic institutions and protecting human rights.
