Renukiran Welfare Foundation

Renukiran Welfare Foundation is a non-profit organisation registered under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, working with underserved communities across India. Its work began in 2013, when founders Avinash Kumar and Pooja Gupta started teaching children from farming and daily wage families living near the Yamuna riverbanks in Delhi, and the foundation was formally established in 2018. It is named for Avinash's mother, Renu Ji, whose vision of a dignified life through education, training and life skills the organisation describes as its origin. The foundation states its mission as improving access to quality education, promoting women's independence through skill development, and improving health and well-being. It describes its values as respect, integrity, commitment, excellence, quality, beneficiary focus and partnership, and aligns its programmes to six United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: zero hunger, good health, quality education, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, and climate action.

Major Areas of Work

• Education: Quality schooling support for children living in slum communities, including academic teaching, home visits to families and scholarships for promising students.

• Health and hygiene: Free healthcare camps, food distribution drives and awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene and reproductive health in areas with limited medical access.

• Livelihood: Vocational and digital skills training run through dedicated centres, with job placement assistance, financial literacy sessions, market linkage support and entrepreneurship guidance.

• Women's empowerment: Awareness workshops on menstrual and reproductive health, distribution of reusable sanitary napkins, and skill and mentorship programmes aimed at financial and social independence.

• Climate action: Tree plantation drives in urban and rural areas, cleanliness drives, and promotion of solar-powered and clean energy technologies.

• Faridpuri Center: Weekend classes for children from nearby slum communities, covering all academic subjects through interactive teaching, run as a safe and nurturing learning space.

• Palla Center, Faridabad: Skill development centre offering stitching and tailoring from basic to advanced level, beauty and parlour skills, and computer and digital literacy including MS Office, Canva, AI tools and digital marketing.

• Garhi Center: Stitching and garment creation training with a hands-on approach, aimed at home-based income and small tailoring businesses.

• Seva Sandwich and Food for Life: Food distribution drives providing fresh meals to homeless and underprivileged communities, alongside the raashan distribution the foundation ran during the COVID-19 lockdown.

• Grow Trees With Us: The foundation's plantation portfolio, covering active sustainability projects, ESG partnerships, celebration tree programmes, carbon offset and a Green Legacy Hub.

The plantation work is the foundation's most developed offer to institutional partners. Drives use native, region-specific species and are geo-tagged for digital tracking, with post-plantation care covering watering, mulching, protection and survival-rate monitoring. Projects are implemented with corporates, educational institutions, resident welfare associations, government bodies and local communities, and reported back through CSR impact reports, beneficiary data and geo-tagged plantation records.

Impact

Renukiran states it has over eight years of social impact and community development experience and multi-state project implementation capability across India; it does not publish reach figures. Its site displays as allies a set of corporate, institutional and nonprofit collaborators including HDFC, IDFC First, JPMorgan, Amazon, IBM, Airbnb, NIIT, Goonj, Goodera, Benevity, Amity University, O.P.
