First Heart Foundations Network
First Heart Foundations Network (FHFN) is a Coimbatore-based non-governmental organisation founded in 2017 with a clear and urgent mission to train ordinary people across India to save lives in emergencies. Built by a group of Safety Engineers and professional trainers, the organisation works on the belief that every second counts in a crisis, and that the best way to reduce deaths from accidents, cardiac events, and disasters is to ensure that the people closest to the scene bystanders, neighbours, family members know exactly what to do.
The heart of FHFN's work is free, hands-on training in First Aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and disaster response and rescue made available to anyone above the age of 10, anywhere in India. The training is not just theoretical; it is practical and physical, teaching participants how to actually perform CPR, how to handle emergency situations with clarity and confidence, and how to use psychological support as a first response tool in the critical early minutes of any crisis. The organisation's stated goal is to train at least 5,000 individuals per year through direct, hands-on sessions.
FHFN takes its training to schools, colleges, residential apartments, corporate wards, and rural areas essentially wherever communities gather. The aim is to build a network of capable first responders at the neighbourhood level, so that no matter where an emergency happens, someone nearby is equipped to act immediately rather than waiting for professional help to arrive.
Beyond emergency training, FHFN aligns its broader social mission with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its programmes touch on good health and well-being, gender equality (by specifically training and engaging women as first responders), reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, climate action, and environmental protection through tree plantation and nature conservation efforts. The organisation also actively builds partnerships with other organisations, institutions, and volunteers to widen its reach and impact.
