Intas Foundation
Intas Foundation is the CSR arm of Intas Pharmaceuticals, one of India's largest pharmaceutical companies. Based in Ahmedabad, the Foundation focuses exclusively on healthcare access, working to reduce the practical and financial barriers that stop people from getting treatment. Its programs are not advocacy or awareness work; they are operational, with field staff on the ground across 31 states and Union Territories, 704 districts, and a cumulative reach of 6.9 million+ lives. Headquarters: Ahmedabad, Gujarat
The Foundation runs three core programs and a fourth catch-all track for newer initiatives. Each program is distinct in what problem it addresses.
- Apna Ghar (Transit Homes): Cancer treatment in India is largely concentrated in major cities. Patients traveling from smaller towns and villages for chemotherapy or radiation face steep costs just for accommodation and food, often forcing them to cut short or abandon treatment. Apna Ghar sets up transit homes near large public cancer hospitals, offering free or low-cost stay, food, transport to and from the hospital, and psychosocial counselling. There are currently 42 transit homes across 24 states and UTs, having served 1.7 million+ people.
- Blood for Life: India's blood banks, particularly in government and charitable hospitals, are often under-equipped to meet demand. This program upgrades blood bank infrastructure by providing equipment such as refrigerators, donor chairs, and mobile blood collection vans, and supports training in good laboratory practices. It covers 300+ blood centers across 23 states and UTs, with 4.3 million+ lives touched.
- Patient Assistance Program: This program extends the reach of quality healthcare to underserved patients by working directly with hospitals. It covers 150+ healthcare institutions across 29 states and UTs, having supported 1,18,000+ patients.
- Emerging Initiatives: A newer track covering community health, livelihood, and other programs not under the three core verticals. Currently active across 11 states with 500,000+ lives touched.
The Foundation has a central support team in Ahmedabad and four regional field teams covering North, South, East, and West India. Field staff are stationed in 40+ cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Guwahati, Srinagar, and Aizawl. Roles here tend to be field-facing, requiring direct engagement with hospitals, blood banks, and patients.
People interested in health systems, patient support, or large-scale nonprofit operations will find Intas Foundation's scope notable. With a proper field presence across nearly every state, roles here offer genuine exposure to on-ground work rather than desk-based programming. The Foundation is also currently calling for third-party agencies to conduct impact assessments of its CSR projects, signalling a focus on evidence and measurement.
