Role
This role leads academic excellence and daily functioning at one of Peepul's three Exemplar Schools in Delhi, the organization's original intervention launched in 2015 through a partnership with the South Delhi Municipal Corporation. The Academic Coordinator drives student learning outcomes through teacher coaching, curriculum design, student support, and close collaboration with government school leadership.
Responsibilities
- Coach and mentor teachers through classroom observations, feedback, and training, and design training modules based on classroom needs and data
- Monitor teacher attendance, instructional quality, and student assessment data to guide interventions and support
- Take ownership of at least one subject as a primary teaching responsibility, stepping in to teach or cover classes when needed
- Support curriculum documentation, alignment, and best practice sharing across the school network
- Lead pastoral care, promote holistic student development, and ensure inclusive practices for students with special educational needs
- Ensure students meet or exceed grade level progress, and drive enrollment, attendance, and retention targets
- Plan, administer, and review student assessments, following Child Protection Policy at all times
- Co-manage school operations with the government school principal, including academic calendars, timetables, and staff performance
- Build a positive school culture and strong relationships with parents, community members, and other stakeholders
- Maintain relationships with government officials and support their capacity building
- Oversee day to day school functioning, coordinate school visits, and liaise with Community Officers for smooth operations
Requirements
- B.Ed, B.El.Ed, NTT, or alumni of academic fellowships like Teach for India preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience, including at least 2 years of classroom teaching
- Experience in urban, diverse, low income school contexts preferred
- Strong leadership and curriculum or pedagogical coaching skills
- Strong stakeholder management abilities
- Adaptable and resilient approach to work
- Fluent in English and Hindi
