Thanal is an indigenous humanitarian organisation founded in Vadakara in 2008 by a group of local community members and professionals. It works under the Daya Rehabilitation Trust, registered under the Indian Trusts Act, and runs Rehabilitation Homes, Dialysis Centers, Pain and Palliative Care Centers, Schools for Differently Abled children, and other health and welfare services. Thanal operates from its headquarters in Kozhikode, Kerala, with centres across Kerala, Karnataka, and Pondicherry, and programme engagements across 21 Indian states.

Role

THANAL is looking for an Accountant to manage the day to day accounting and financial operations of its Rehabilitation Home in Gudibanda. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly statements and MIS reports, and handling billing, reconciliation, and documentation. The Accountant will coordinate with the Head Office, vendors, and banks, monitor budgets, and support audits. This role requires attention to detail and a strong sense of confidentiality around financial and employee information.

Responsibilities

• Manage day to day accounting and financial transactions of the Rehabilitation Home
• Maintain accurate records of income, expenses, payments, receipts, and petty cash
• Prepare monthly financial statements, expense reports, and other required MIS
• Handle billing, invoices, vouchers, reimbursements, and payment documentation
• Monitor and reconcile cash, bank transactions, and ledger accounts
• Maintain proper supporting documents for all financial transactions
• Coordinate with Head Office, vendors, banks, and other stakeholders on financial matters
• Monitor monthly budgets and expenses, and report discrepancies to the Manager
• Ensure timely submission of bills, statements, and financial reports
• Assist with audits and provide required financial documents and information
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee related information
• Ensure compliance with organisational accounting policies and procedures

Requirements

• BCom or MCom qualification
• Minimum 1 year of accounting experience (2 years preferred)
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial documentation
• Experience with cash and bank reconciliation, budgeting, and MIS reporting
• Good coordination and communication skills for working with vendors, banks, and Head Office
• High attention to detail and confidentiality
