Women's Organisation for Rural Development (WORD) is a non-profit working to improve the lives of women and rural communities in Odisha. Their work spans agriculture, livelihoods, microfinance, and rural development supporting marginalised communities to build more stable and self-reliant lives.

Role

Manage day-to-day financial operations for WORD's projects maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance, and supporting sound financial planning across the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily accounts, ledgers, cash books, and vouchers
• Assist in preparing budgets and track expenditures to ensure spending stays within plan
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, balance sheets, and reports
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and relevant regulations
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors; prepare documentation and respond to audit queries
• Handle bank reconciliation, prepare cheques, and manage petty cash
• Work closely with project teams on financial coordination and activity planning

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce (B. Com) or Master's in Commerce (M. Com) with a specialisation in Accounts and Finance
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in an NGO setting
• Proficiency in Tally accounting software
• Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and financial statements
• Proficiency in MS Excel
• Knowledge of statutory compliance requirements
• Attention to detail, integrity, and ability to work independently
• Proficiency in English and Odia
