Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) is a wildlife conservation organisation that has worked on protecting India's wild species and their habitats for more than 25 years. Its work is organised around nine areas it calls its big ideas: Right of Passage, Conflict Mitigation and Coexistence, Wild Rescue, Natural Heritage Campaigns, Wild Aid, Protected Area Recovery, Enforcement and Law, Species Recovery, and Wild Lands. In practice this means securing habitat and animal movement routes, rescuing and rehabilitating injured or orphaned wildlife, reducing human-wildlife conflict, and supporting enforcement agencies against wildlife crime.

Role

As Assistant Field Officer / Field Officer (Campaigns), you will carry the project's awareness and sensitisation work on the ground. You will spend your days with communities and partners, running outreach activities, keeping the project on track, and sending clear field reports back to the team. You will work closely with the Division Head and the Principal Investigator.

Responsibilities

• Execute the targeted outreach and awareness programme on site, keeping project deliverables on track.
• Coordinate with stakeholders for regular community engagement, including school activities in towns and villages, trainings and mass sensitisation drives.
• Assist the Division Head and Principal Investigator in identifying and building strategic partnerships in the working states.
• Work with a wide range of partners, including non-governmental organisations, academic institutions, government bodies and individuals, so campaigns run smoothly.
• Draft content, stories, social media plans and reports to keep a steady public presence for the project.
• Support archiving, database management, analysis and reporting for the project.
• Monitor the progress of the division's ongoing projects every month.
• Ensure the project meets its scientific and technical requirements.
• Ensure the project stays within its financial plan.
• Maintain media coverage of the project when needed.
• Gather field data and share it with the head office.
• Prepare technical and donor reports, photographic documentation and project submissions as required.
• Assist in drafting manuscripts, draft reports and proposals along with the Division Head and Principal Investigator.

Requirements

• At least a Post Graduate degree in Social Sciences, Communications and Journalism, or an equivalent field.
• 0 to 2 years of work experience.
• Comfort working in the field in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, including rural areas.
• Ability to speak with and listen to a wide mix of people, from school students to government officials.
• Clear writing skills for reports, stories and social media content.
• Basic skills in organising data, keeping records and tracking project progress.
• Ability to work as part of a team and take guidance from senior project staff.
