Akanksha Foundation is a non-profit that has worked for more than 30 years to give children from low-income communities a high-quality education. It supports more than 14,600 students and 5,800 alumni through its formal school programme. Akanksha runs 27 English-medium schools across Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur. Its goal is better schools and brighter futures for every child it serves. This role sits within Akanksha's school leadership team, which runs each school day to day and makes sure children learn well.

Role

As Assistant School Leader, you will work side by side with the School Leader to keep the school running smoothly and help children learn. You will look after operations and administration, coach teachers to grow in the classroom, and build strong links with parents, local officials and the wider community.

Responsibilities

• Manage school operations, administration and logistics.
• Support teacher development, curriculum planning and classroom teaching.
• Observe classes and give teachers clear, helpful feedback.
• Lead student recruitment and track attendance.
• Engage parents in their children's learning.
• Coordinate with government officials and municipal authorities.
• Support performance management of school staff.
• Monitor school budgets and operational data.
• Work with the social work team to create positive change in the community.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or postgraduate degree.
• B.Ed. preferred.
• 5 to 7 years of teaching experience.
• Experience training and mentoring teachers.
• Experience in curriculum development and documentation.
• Strong understanding of how children learn and good teaching practice.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving and communication skills.
• School leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Hindi and Marathi preferred.
• Experience in the development sector is an added advantage.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Mumbai.
