Role

The City Coordination Officer will support implementation of a project strengthening urban disease surveillance and One Health coordination across municipal and peri-urban areas, reporting to the City Coordinator based in Hyderabad.

Responsibilities

• Map environmental risks and peri-urban jurisdictional grey zones quickly, and build a clear baseline of the current surveillance system, its activities and the stakeholders involved.
• Support One Health activities in high priority wards and in the grey zones of peri-urban areas within the selected municipal corporations.
• Assist a needs assessment for upskilling sessions for healthcare providers on IHIP reporting, outbreak investigation and response.
• Support the mapping of private sector providers to improve IHIP reporting and their participation in outbreak response.
• Help set up rumour sentinel activities by identifying sentinels and building their skills, guided by MSU and MSVC.
• Work closely with other department staff so the response to any outbreak in priority wards and selected peri-urban areas is coordinated.
• Support IHIP reporting across other clinics in urban areas, in addition to the UPHCs in these corporations.
• Support the involvement of Resident Welfare Associations in the selected areas so they take part in mock drills and community IHIP reporting.
• Ensure all project activities follow YRGCARE's policies on ethics, safeguarding, data protection and financial management.
• Coordinate reported IHIP events with other departments and keep the feedback closure loop updated with MSU in specific areas.
• Keep JRRT activities updated with MSU, working closely with other departments.
• Document good practices and share them with the Program Associate.
• Take on any other duties assigned by the supervisor in support of the project's goals.

Requirements

• Post-graduate degree in development studies, public health or social sciences.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in urban health or urban livelihood programmes.
• Strong understanding of the roles different stakeholders play inside a municipal corporation, which is critical for this position.
• Experience managing stakeholders for community engagement and for putting health activities into practice.
• Good understanding of disease surveillance work and One Health activities.
• Understanding of Telangana health systems is a must.
• Must be fluent in Kannada.
• Knowledge of current tools for designing case studies, testimonial videos and other audio-visual products.
• Ability to learn fast and work alongside senior subject experts.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and manage time across several tasks.
• Own two-wheeler with a valid driving licence is strongly preferred.
