ShikshaLokam

ShikshaLokam is a nonprofit started under Shibulal Family Philanthropic Initiatives. It helps school and education leaders keep learning and improving, working side by side with government officials and community organisations. It also helps build Shikshagraha, a people-powered movement for fair and equal education, and brings together government, civil society, funders and communities to make it work. Since 2017, this work has led to more than 2 million small improvements across 27 states and union territories. This role sits within ShikshaLokam's Communications team, which is working on InvokED, ShikshaLokam's global dialogue that brings policymakers, teachers, researchers, funders and young leaders together to improve public education. Role

As Communications Intern, you will spend six months helping to bring InvokED 6.0 to life, from the build-up through the event days and the follow-up. You will write and design content that spreads the word about the dialogue, keeps speakers, participants and the team engaged, and helps the event run smoothly. The team uses AI tools every day for research, writing, design and routine work, and you will do the same.

Responsibilities

  • Create social media posts, speaker and session announcements, blogs and short videos to promote InvokED 6.0.
  • Draft and send invitations, emailers, reminders and follow-ups to speakers, participants and partners.
  • Design event materials such as social media creatives, banners, standees, presentations, agendas and speaker cards.
  • Plan, schedule and post InvokED content on social media, track engagement and reply to the community.
  • Keep the internal team informed and involved through regular updates, countdowns and engagement activities.
  • Coordinate with the website team to keep the InvokED microsite updated with speakers, agenda and resources.
  • Build and maintain accurate records of invitees, speakers, registrations and outreach.
  • Support on-ground communications and live social media coverage on the event days, and work with the photo and video teams.
  • Create post-event content such as thank-you emails, session highlights, photo and video assets and reports, and organise them for future use.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree, with 0-1 years of experience in communications, media, design or a related field.
  • Strong written English, with the ability to write clear emails and engaging social media copy.
  • Good working skills in Canva and video editing tools, and an eye for making designs look polished.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn, Instagram, X and YouTube.
  • Comfort with spreadsheets and care with details when handling data.
  • Strong time management and communication skills, and the ability to stay steady in a fast-moving, changing setting.
  • Active use of and real interest in AI tools such as Claude Code. Experience with project or programme management is an added advantage.
  • Availability for the full six months, including the event days.

Benefits

  • Work on a global dialogue on education leadership that brings together policymakers, practitioners and young leaders.
  • Build hands-on skills in content writing, design, social media and event communications.
  • Learn to use AI tools for research, writing and design alongside a team that uses them every day.
  • See a major event through from start to finish, from planning to follow-up.
