U&I is a volunteer-driven organisation that works with children from vulnerable communities, including children living in shelter homes, so they can learn, grow and build a better future. Volunteers across Indian cities give their time every week to teach and mentor these children. The organisation believes that ordinary people, working together, can make a real difference in a child's life. Its national volunteer network is what keeps this work going in every city it reaches.

Role

As Community Mobiliser, you will lead how U&I brings in volunteers through national campaigns, build a strong community among its volunteer leaders, and grow how it keeps volunteers over time. This is a hands-on role based at the Cox Town office in Bengaluru. You will run campaigns and community work yourself, not just support them from the side, and you will shape a brand-new volunteer retention process from the start.

Responsibilities

• Lead national volunteer recruitment and fundraising campaigns from planning through execution
• Mobilise volunteers through group messaging, gamification and rewards
• Plan and run recruitment events and volunteer onboarding sessions
• Recruit and lead a small campaign team for each campaign cycle
• Run and grow the national community of volunteer leaders
• Keep volunteer leaders engaged through regular conversations, recognition and peer learning
• Monitor community health and act early when volunteers start to disengage
• Share key national updates with volunteer leaders
• Build a new process for tracking and improving volunteer retention
• Propose what to track, which interventions to try and how to measure success

Requirements

• 1 to 3 years of experience in community building, volunteer engagement, campaign management or programme management.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Bengaluru, working from the Cox Town office.
• Experience running campaigns that recruit people or raise funds.
• Comfortable with gamification, rewards and other campaign methods.
• Proactive and able to build a process where none exists yet.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Strong skills in working with many different stakeholders.
• Confident with everyday tools such as Google Sheets, Trello, Asana and Notion.
• Experience managing groups on WhatsApp or other community platforms.
• A genuine interest in volunteering, community impact and social change.
