SNEHA (Society for Nutrition, Education and Health Action) works to improve the health, nutrition, and safety of women and children living in Mumbai's urban informal settlements. SNEHA works at both ends, empowering communities to drive change while partnering with public health and safety systems for lasting impact. Between 2016 and 2025, SNEHA directly reached over 620,555 women, children, and healthcare workers, and indirectly impacted more than 3.63 million people across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Role
SNEHA is looking for a Community Organiser to support its EHSAS programme, which helps adolescents grow into healthy, gender-sensitive, and responsible young adults. This role is central to identifying schools, enrolling adolescents, and coordinating sessions on mental health, nutrition, and sexual and reproductive health. You will also help bring teachers, parents, and health post staff together to build a stronger support system around young people.
Responsibilities
- Mobilise and support school and community-based programmes for adolescents, youth, and parents
- Run outreach activities and campaigns in schools and communities
- Attend training sessions and lead capacity-building sessions
- Support the team in planning and running sessions in schools and communities
- Coordinate with teachers, health post staff, and other stakeholders to support the programme
- Plan day to day activities and maintain accurate, regular data entry
- Support documentation and reporting of programme activities
Requirements
- SSC or HSC education
- 2 to 5 years of experience implementing community projects in a similar role
- Strong communication skills
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to work well in a team
- Empathy, respect, and a non-judgmental approach with people from different backgrounds
- Patience and resilience while working in diverse community settings
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Mumbai
- Willingness to work occasional weekends or beyond regular hours
