Director, New Portfolio (Remote) | Global Development Incubator
The Global Development IncubatorGlobal Development Incubator
GDI is an incubator that helps build and scale social impact ventures. It works across regions through independently run partner organizations in the US, Africa, Hong Kong, and South Asia, sharing knowledge and building capacity together. GDI South Asia, set up in 2023, is the newest member of this network and is still growing its regional presence. Over 12 to 36 months, GDI's teams help early stage initiatives build their strategy, brand, team, and financial systems, and the organization has helped shape more than 90 social impact ventures so far.
Role
This role leads a new thematic portfolio for the organization, with preferred focus areas including AI, Gender Justice, Agriculture, and Climate and Health. The Director can either build and grow a full portfolio aligned to their own expertise, or focus on building initiatives within 1-2 portfolio areas using their leadership and entrepreneurship experience.
Directors collaborate with social sector leaders, experts, and entrepreneurs to address some of the world's toughest problems, helping turn big ideas into effective, value-adding organizations. Sometimes initiatives are hatched in-house. In other cases, entrepreneurs or donors bring a big idea that needs an incubation partner. Either way, the Director acts as strategist, advisor, integrator, implementer, and often board member.
