It helps communities reach fair and lasting health outcomes, guided by values of honesty and sustainability. Its services cover prevention, care, support and treatment, with a special focus on people affected by HIV and other infectious diseases. Alongside meeting today's health needs, it also prepares for the challenges communities will face tomorrow.

Role

As District Coordinator, you will lead the day-to-day running of the project in your district. You will plan, supervise and check field work, and make sure study teams, schools, public health services and community members work well together. You will help the project run to a high standard, follow its ethical and working rules, and keep information flowing between the district team and the central project team. This role suits someone with strong programme management skills, a background in public health or community projects, and the ability to work with many partners while keeping work on time and of good quality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the project's work in the district so activities match its goals and timelines, keeping workplans, schedules and activity trackers up to date.
  • Coordinate with study teams, counsellors, schools and community groups so field activities run smoothly.
  • Build and keep strong relationships with district health officials, school leaders, local leaders and community partners, and represent the project at district meetings.
  • Work with ASHA and ANM health workers, school staff and local health services to support screening and referrals.
  • Supervise and mentor Study Counsellors and field staff through on-site guidance, performance tracking and training.
  • Monitor field work for quality and timely delivery, making sure the team follows project procedures, ethical guidelines and data protection rules.
  • Prepare district reports, track numbers such as participation and follow-ups, and record lessons learned and success stories for the central project team.
  • Manage logistics such as scheduling and resources, spot problems early, and work with the central team to find practical solutions.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Community Development, Psychology or a related field.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in programme coordination, community health projects or NGO implementation roles.
  • Proven experience managing field teams and coordinating with many different stakeholders at once.
  • Strong planning, organisation, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to meet timelines and reporting needs.
  • Fluent spoken and written Hindi and English, and knowing local dialects is a plus.
  • A respectful, community-minded approach and the ability to work well in a team of people from different fields.
  • Willingness to be based at the district site office in Chennai, Pune, Gorakhpur or Satara, with regular field visits to schools and public health facilities.

Benefits

  • Pay that reflects your experience and skills.
  • A chance to lead health work that reaches schools and communities across a whole district.
  • Hands-on experience working with public health systems, schools and community health workers.
  • An inclusive workplace that values people of every ability, gender, faith, ethnicity and sexual orientation.
