Nirmaan Organization works with young people and low-income families in India to open up routes out of poverty. Its programmes run across education support, skills and employability training, and help for small entrepreneurs to build a steady livelihood. The work is carried out with communities in their own neighbourhoods, so change is built alongside the people it is meant to serve. Telling those stories well is how the organisation brings partners, donors and volunteers into the work. This role sits within Nirmaan's Communication and Story Telling department, which produces the films, campaigns and reports that carry the organisation's impact to a wider public.

Role

Nirmaan is looking for a creative and experienced video editor to shape the visual content behind its campaigns, storytelling work and impact communication. You will cut documentary-style films, short reels and campaign videos that show what the organisation's work changes for real people. The job is as much about narrative judgement as it is about the timeline: choosing which moment carries the story, and building a piece that a viewer stays with to the end.

Responsibilities

• Edit documentary-style videos that follow the lives and work of the communities Nirmaan serves.
• Cut short-form reels and vertical content for social media campaigns.
• Build campaign videos that carry a clear message and a clear call to action.
• Develop visual narratives that match Nirmaan's communication goals and tone.
• Review raw footage and select the takes, interviews and moments that carry the story.
• Assemble rough cuts, take feedback, and take each piece through to a finished version.
• Colour correct, mix audio, and add music and titles so the finished video looks and sounds clean.
• Add subtitles and captions so videos work for viewers watching without sound and in more than one language.
• Work with the content and communication teams to plan what footage is needed before a shoot.
• Deliver each video in the sizes and formats each platform needs.
• Keep project files, raw footage and finished videos organised and easy to find later.
• Track deadlines across several videos running at once and flag risks early.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience editing video.
• Experience in storytelling, documentary work or impact-driven content is preferred.
• A strong portfolio or showreel with documentary-style work, reels and campaign videos.
• Experience working with NGOs, social enterprises or other purpose-driven organisations is preferred.
• Confident use of a professional editing suite such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
• A good sense of pacing, structure and how a story holds a viewer's attention.
• Working knowledge of colour correction and audio mixing.
• Ability to add basic motion graphics, titles and subtitles.
• Understanding of how content is watched on Instagram, YouTube and other social platforms.
• Care in handling footage of real people, including consent and dignity in how they are shown.
• Ability to take feedback from a team and turn it into a better cut.
• Ability to manage several videos at once and meet deadlines.
• Comfortable working from the Nirmaan head office in Hyderabad.
• Clear communication in English; an Indian language spoken in the field areas is useful.
