Field Officer in Uttar Pradesh | YRG MERF
##YRG MERF
YR Gaitonde Medical Educational & Research Foundation (YRGMERF) was set up in 1993 and has spent three decades working to change lives through healthcare, research and partnerships with communities. The organisation works on prevention, care, support and treatment, with long experience serving people affected by HIV and other infectious diseases. Its approach is built on integrity and on staying with a community long enough for health gains to last. Today that work reaches beyond infectious disease into nutrition, school health and the everyday conditions that shape whether a family stays well. This role sits within YRGCARE's KiDS project team, which runs diabetes awareness and prevention work in government schools across Uttar Pradesh in partnership with Sanofi.

Role
The Field Officer is the person the schools actually see. You will be in classrooms, staff rooms and community meetings across your assigned districts, training teachers to use the KiDS manual, helping them run awareness sessions with students aged 10 to 15, and carrying the conversation out to parents and neighbourhoods. You report to the District Coordinator or Programme Manager, and you spend most of your month in the field rather than at a desk. The programme has already completed two phases since 2024 and is now expanding to 17 districts in the state, including aspirational districts and schools that need refresher training.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate teacher training sessions in assigned schools using the KiDS manual.
- Support trained teachers as they run diabetes awareness sessions with students.
- Organise and run parent-teacher meetings in project schools.
- Map the communities linked to each project school.
- Hold community awareness meetings in those neighbourhoods.
- Identify diabetes ambassadors in the community who can keep awareness going after the project ends.
- Support those ambassadors so their work continues without the project team.
- Document every field activity clearly and on time.
- Compile field data and submit it to the District Coordinator or Programme Manager.
- Provide field inputs for programme reports, working with the M&E Officer.
- Maintain full records of referrals to health facilities, along with forms and related paperwork.
- Travel roughly 20 days each month across the assigned districts.
Requirements
- Post-graduation in Home Science, Nutrition, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in development, health, education, or nutrition programmes.
- That experience must be at the district level.
- Working knowledge of the education department system in Uttar Pradesh.
- Ability to work with government school teachers and headmasters.
- Comfort holding meetings with parents and community members.
- Proficiency in MS Excel for data entry and reporting.
- Strong written and spoken Hindi.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Ability to keep accurate records and meet reporting deadlines.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently in field settings with little supervision.
- Willingness to spend about 20 days a month travelling in the field.
- Based in or able to relocate to one of the assigned districts: Saharanpur, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Lucknow or Kanpur.
Benefits
- 24 days of annual leave, on top of public holidays.
- Health insurance coverage.
- Travel and logistics support provided under the project.
- A collaborative and inclusive working environment.
- Scope for learning and professional development.
- YRG is an equal-opportunity organisation and welcomes differences in abilities, sexual orientation, ethnicity, faith and gender.
