PSI India

PSI India is a non-profit that works to make healthcare easy to reach and affordable for people who need it most. It was set up in 1980 and has run health programmes across many Indian states since 1988, reaching millions of people. Its work covers reproductive, maternal and child health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, and both communicable and non-communicable diseases. PSI India works alongside government bodies, philanthropic groups and private partners to plan, run and study programmes that make communities and cities healthier. This role sits within PSI India's Programs team, on its Vector Borne Diseases project, which works with district health systems to control dengue and malaria.

Role

As Field Program Coordinator, you will help roll out the dengue and malaria control programme in your district, working from the district headquarters. You will work closely with the District Implementation Lead, ASHAs and ANMs to make sure communities know about the programme, cases are found and referred on time, testing kits and medicines stay in stock, and case data reaches the government's HMIS portal correctly. This is a hands-on field role for someone who knows the public health system and enjoys coaching frontline health workers.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the District Implementation Lead to roll out the dengue and malaria programme at district and block level.
  • Coach and mentor ASHAs, ANMs, mobilisers, counsellors and other health staff through joint field visits, and help them keep their dengue and malaria client lists up to date.
  • Support district officials to organise trainings and orientations for frontline health workers, and hold joint ASHA and ANM meetings to stop the spread of dengue and malaria.
  • Visit health facilities, the district hospital and high-risk areas to see how the programme is running, spot gaps, and raise them with district health officials through clear field visit reports.
  • Work with the district vector borne disease control department and logistics officers to keep testing kits and medicines in stock, including regular visits to the district store and timely ordering.
  • Track cases in affected areas, follow up with each patient, and make sure suspected cases from village and urban health and nutrition days and outreach camps are referred to health facilities on time.
  • Check the quality of data sent in by facilities, support daily reporting with the MIS team, and make sure case details are uploaded to the HMIS portal with the District Health Society.
  • Take part in city coordination meetings and District and State Health Society meetings, and support the City Implementation Lead in meeting programme targets.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience managing vector borne disease or other health projects.
  • Experience working with state government health systems, ideally on family planning projects.
  • Fluency in Hindi and English, both spoken and written, with the ability to give clear presentations.
  • Willingness to be based at the district headquarters in Prayagraj, Akbarpur, Hardoi or Shahjahanpur and to travel often across rural and urban areas.
  • The ability to lead, hold yourself and others to account, and keep learning on the job.

Benefits

  • Direct experience working with district and state health systems on a programme that protects communities from dengue and malaria.
  • A workplace that values coaching and growth, where mistakes are treated as a chance to learn.
  • An equal opportunity employer that welcomes qualified people regardless of race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation or disability.
