Young Tinker Foundation

Young Tinker Foundation works with young people through hands-on STEM education. Students learn by building things with their own hands, testing ideas, and seeing how science and technology work in real life. The aim is simple: help students explore their creativity, pick up practical skills, and grow into people who can solve problems for their own communities. The work happens where the students are, in schools and with partner organisations. This role sits within Young Tinker Foundation's field teaching team, which plans and runs STEM sessions directly with students across different locations. IMG_2541-1-1-1-1024x576.jpg

Role

The Field Teacher runs STEM sessions on the ground. You will travel to schools and partner sites across Bengaluru, set up the tools and materials, teach the session, and make sure every student can take part safely. It is a practical, moving job for someone who enjoys being with students and is comfortable carrying kits, fixing small things, and keeping a day organised.

Responsibilities

  • Plan STEM sessions that students can take part in with their hands.
  • Conduct sessions at schools and partner sites across different locations.
  • Coordinate with school staff on dates, space, and student groups.
  • Coordinate with partner organisations on session plans and needs.
  • Manage travel routing so sessions across locations run to time.
  • Handle logistics for materials, kits, and session setup.
  • Set up the room and tools before each session begins.
  • Ensure student safety throughout every session.
  • Keep sessions running smoothly from start to finish.
  • Support and maintain basic electronics and STEM tools.
  • Collect feedback from students, teachers, and partners.
  • Use that feedback to improve how future sessions are delivered.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
  • Freshers are welcome; no minimum years of experience required.
  • Willingness to travel to different locations for sessions.
  • Comfortable working on the ground rather than from a desk.
  • Basic MS Word skills for session plans and notes.
  • Basic Excel skills for tracking sessions and feedback.
  • Comfort with basic electronics and common STEM tools.
  • Able to explain practical ideas clearly to school students.
  • Clear spoken communication with teachers and partner staff.
  • Organised enough to manage kits, materials, and timings.
  • Attention to safety when students handle tools and components.
  • Willing to take feedback and change how a session is run.
  • Based in Bengaluru or willing to relocate there.

Benefits

  • Monthly salary of ₹15,000 to ₹25,000.
  • Travel allowance in addition to the monthly salary.
  • Full-time, paid role.
  • Direct classroom time with students rather than desk work.
  • Practical experience with electronics and STEM teaching kits.
  • Exposure to many schools and partner organisations across the city.
  • Work with a team focused on building skills in young people.
