Young Tinker Foundation works to open up science and technology learning for young people through hands-on making. Students build, test and take apart real things instead of only reading about them, which helps them pick up practical skills and confidence along the way. The aim is for young people to grow into innovators and leaders who can solve problems in their own communities. The work happens where the students already are, in schools and with partner organisations. This role sits within Young Tinker Foundation's field delivery team, which takes STEM sessions directly to schools and partner sites.

Role

As a Field Teacher you will be the person students meet on the ground. You will plan and run hands-on STEM sessions at different locations across Chennai, set up the tools and materials each session needs, and keep the day running safely and smoothly. You will also work closely with schools and partner organisations so that sessions reach the right students at the right time, and bring back what you learn from each session to make the next one better.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging hands-on STEM sessions across different school and partner locations.
• Prepare session content and materials so each group gets a clear, practical learning experience.
• Coordinate with schools and partner organisations to schedule and confirm sessions.
• Manage travel routes and daily logistics so sessions start and finish on time.
• Set up equipment, workspaces and STEM kits before each session begins.
• Guide students through basic electronics and the use of STEM tools.
• Keep every session safe for students, and follow safety practices during setup and activities.
• Handle and maintain session equipment so it stays in working condition.
• Collect feedback from students, teachers and partners after sessions.
• Use that feedback to improve how sessions are delivered.
• Keep simple records of sessions held, attendance and materials used.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
• A valid driving licence for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers is mandatory.
• Willingness to travel regularly to different session locations.
• Based in Chennai, or ready to move there for the role.
• Basic working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
• Comfort with basic electronics and hands-on STEM tools.
• Ability to explain practical ideas clearly to school students.
• Confidence in coordinating with school staff and partner organisations.
• Care for student safety during activities involving tools and equipment.
• Ability to plan a day, manage time and work without close supervision.
• Openness to feedback and to changing how a session runs based on what worked.

• Monthly salary of ₹15,000 to ₹25,000, with a travel allowance on top.
