Frontend Engineer – Internal Applications in New Delhi | RightWalk Foundation
RightWalk Foundation
RightWalk Foundation works with state governments so that the entitlements already written into law actually reach the people they were meant for. The team works on programmes like RTE, which opens private school seats to children from low-income families, and NAPS, which connects young people to apprenticeships. Much of this work depends on being able to see clearly how a campaign is moving, where people are dropping off, and what needs attention today. Right now a lot of that reporting is done by hand in spreadsheets. This role sits within RightWalk's technology team, which builds the internal tools, dashboards and operator consoles that the programme and engineering teams use to run and monitor delivery.

Role
You will own the front end for RightWalk's internal applications: the tools programme teams use every day, the dashboards that show how campaigns are performing, and the operator consoles that delivery workflows depend on. This is a build-and-own role, not the implementation of someone else's mockups. You will sit with programme users, understand what they actually need on screen, and ship it. You will report to the Engineering Lead, Technology, and work closely with backend engineers and programme staff in Delhi.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end frontend delivery of internal tools, from a rough programme requirement to a working, deployed application.
- Build in React and VueJS as the situation demands, keeping a shared component vocabulary so the tools look and behave consistently.
- Shape API contracts together with the backend engineers instead of waiting for a specification to arrive.
- Own build tooling, dependency hygiene and deployment for the frontend applications you build.
- Own the dashboards that show programme performance, including NAPS and RTE funnel movement, conversation volumes and drop-off points.
- Turn open-ended questions from the programme team into views that answer them without needing a training session.
- Build for the data that actually exists: fast loads, sensible pagination, and honest empty and error states.
- Keep visualisations trustworthy so that what appears on screen reconciles with the source data.
- Own the operator-facing consoles used daily, including customisation of the self-hosted Chatwoot dashboard in VueJS where the standard agent workflow does not fit.
- Keep customisations of third-party open-source tools upgradeable across upstream releases rather than forked into a dead end.
- Work with the ChaturAI backend team on the surfaces agents rely on, such as conversation context, bot state and human escalation.
- Protect data sensitivity in every interface by showing operators what they need and no more beneficiary data than that.
- Drive usability, accessibility and responsive behaviour as a default rather than a clean-up pass before launch, and take your own work to production and fix what breaks there.
- Sit with programme and PMU users to scope tools before building, push back on requests that do not need software, and keep documentation and handover notes current.
Requirements
- B.E. or B.Tech or equivalent in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Strong self-taught developers with a demonstrable portfolio of shipped applications will also be considered.
- Around 3 years building production web applications in VueJS and/or React.
- At least one application you owned end to end in production.
- Strong in VueJS or React, and willing to work in both, since this role does not get to pick one framework.
- VueJS skills covering component architecture, state management, and working confidently inside a large existing open-source codebase.
- React skills covering modern hooks-based development with sound state and data-fetching patterns.
- Experience with charting libraries, dashboard layout, and turning raw datasets into readable views.
- Comfortable with open-ended requirements from non-technical users, and able to shape them into scope yourself.
- Empathy for users, meaning you build for programme staff and check afterwards whether the tool actually got used.
- Ownership, meaning you ship to production and stay with the tool after launch.
- Pragmatism, meaning you choose the simplest thing that works over the most interesting thing to build.
- Professional English; working Hindi is useful for collaboration with programme teams.
- Preferred: internal-tools or dashboard-heavy product experience, customisation of an open-source dashboard or admin product, and hands-on work with data-visualisation libraries.
- This is an onsite role in New Delhi, with occasional support during campaign peaks when dashboards and operator tools are under heavy use.
Benefits
- Compensation benchmarked to the Indian social-sector technology market and calibrated to your experience.
- End-to-end ownership of the tools that run RightWalk's programmes, from the first conversation with a user to production.
- Work that connects directly to government entitlement delivery, where the tools you build change how quickly schemes reach families.
