Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation
The Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation supports individuals working on independent, cause driven projects in India. Through the Inlaks Shivdasani Fellowship for Social Engagement, it funds people pursuing action oriented research, cause lawyering, grassroots journalism, ecological work, community rights, public health, or the archiving and reviving of dying arts, culture or language. The fellowship funds individual learning and action, not organisational work, and stands for equality of opportunity, social inclusion, freedom of expression, and individual and constitutional rights.
Role
A two year, fully funded fellowship for Indian citizens to carry out an independent social engagement project of their choosing, with a monthly stipend and structured check-ins with the Foundation along the way.
Responsibilities
- Design and carry out your own project in one of the fellowship's areas: action oriented research, cause lawyering, grassroots journalism, ecological efforts, community rights, public health, or archiving and reviving dying arts, culture or language
- Complete a six month probation period at the start of the fellowship
- Take part in quarterly and annual reviews with the Foundation over the two years
- Attend three workshops hosted by the Foundation at regular intervals through the fellowship
- Note that art installations and photo books are not eligible under this fellowship, those projects should apply to the Inlaks Fine Arts Award instead
Requirements
- Indian citizen currently residing in India
- Born on or after 1 January 1991
- A bachelor's degree from a recognised Indian institute or university, or, without one, at least three years of relevant work experience
- Not currently enrolled in academic studies or a PhD during the fellowship period
Benefits
- A monthly stipend of ₹25,000 to ₹45,000, depending on your location category (X, Y or Z, based on government HRA classification), at the Foundation's discretion
- Structured workshops and reviews with the Foundation to support your project over two years
