Role

This internship offers hands-on, field-based experience in building block level climate resilience action plans in Betul district. You will work close to villages and farms, supporting research on agriculture and allied sectors, rural development, water resources and natural resources. You will help gather and organise data, sit in on community conversations, and support meetings with government officials, civil society groups and private sector actors. Your work will feed directly into WRI India's research, knowledge management and advisory activities. If your college requires an internship report, your research topic should match this area of work.

Responsibilities

  • Support background literature review, desk research and secondary data collection.
  • Collect and document field-level qualitative and quantitative data on agriculture and allied sectors, water resources, livelihoods, natural resources and rural infrastructure.
  • Assist technical experts during field surveys, stakeholder consultations and village-level assessments.
  • Organise and document community consultations, focus group discussions and meetings.
  • Support policy research related to climate resilience and rural development.
  • Compile, clean and organise field data so it is ready for analysis.
  • Contribute to report writing, documentation and briefs.
  • Prepare presentation materials for internal and external sharing.
  • Engage with government, civil society and private sector actors during project activities.
  • Coordinate with project team members so activities finish on time and to a good standard.

Requirements

  • Pursuing or recently completed a Master's degree in an agriculture related field.
  • Good understanding of agriculture and allied sectors.
  • Good understanding of rural livelihoods.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in Hindi.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel extensively in rural areas.
  • Basic skills in MS Excel.
  • Basic skills in MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable working with MS Teams.
  • Familiarity with digital data collection tools is an added advantage.
  • Able to be based in Betul district, Madhya Pradesh, as this is a field-based role.
  • Careful, organised approach to recording and checking data.
  • A cover letter and a resume must be attached with the application.
  • The internship runs for 3 months, extendable based on project requirements, with a start date as soon as possible.
