iTeach Schools runs free, high-quality schools for children from low-income communities in Pune and Navi Mumbai. Many of these children get a poor school education, which makes it much harder for them to reach college or build a career. iTeach started in 2015 to change this and give every child a fair chance. Alongside its schools, it runs a college-to-career programme for its students, and it is known for strong teacher training, a results-focused team culture, and schools designed around students. This role sits within iTeach's school leadership team, which works with the Principal to run each school and shape how it grows.

Role

The Lead Teacher splits their time across three areas: teaching (25%), coaching and managing teachers (50%), and running school projects (25%). Together, this means co-leading the school with the Principal, which makes the role a strong step toward becoming a school leader. iTeach is looking for committed educators who want to keep building excellence in their own classroom while starting out as coaches to a team of four to five teachers.

Responsibilities

• Teach one subject to one grade at a level that sets the standard for teaching across your school and the iTeach network.
• Plan and deliver strong unit plans that use advanced teaching methods.
• Try new lesson designs, teaching strategies and ways of using student data, and share what works with other schools.
• Lead a team of four to five teachers, including performance management, coaching and career guidance.
• Set ambitious goals with each teacher and build an individual growth plan with them.
• Coach teachers hands-on, spending about two hours with each teacher every week, so their students do well.
• Shape the school's culture and strategy together with the School Principal.
• Design and run school projects, such as holistic development for students, parent and community involvement, or new school practices.
• Measure the results of each project and improve its design and delivery year on year.
• Document project plans so other schools can repeat them.

Requirements

• 2 to 3 years of strong performance as a classroom teacher
• 3 or more years of total work experience
• A record of contributing to your school beyond your own classroom
• Ability to lead part of a larger team and deliver strong results
• Experience coaching and developing teachers is preferred
• Strong skills in lesson and unit planning
• Comfort using student data to improve teaching
• Ability to plan, run and measure school projects
• Clear communication and the ability to give helpful feedback to other teachers
• Willingness to work in Pune
