About

iTeach Schools runs a network of free secondary schools for students from low-income communities in Pune and Mumbai. Working in public-private partnership with municipal corporations, iTeach designs and operates schools where the government provides infrastructure and funding partners contribute grants. The organisation has been running for over 10 years and has impacted over 9,000 young people across 13 schools. Headquarters: Pune, Maharashtra iteach (1).png

Sectors: Education, School Management, Youth Development

The Problem They Are Solving Secondary education remains a significant gap for low-income students in Indian cities. In Pune, none of the city's 54 English medium public schools go beyond Grade 7, which means most students from low-income backgrounds drop out after that. Nationally, only 28.4% of students enroll in college after finishing school, and learning levels in government schools remain low.

Actvities

  • Schools in Pune

iTeach runs 9 free English medium secondary schools (Grades 8 to 10) across Pune in partnership with the Pune Municipal Corporation. The schools are spread across neighbourhoods including Aundh, Kondhwa, Erandwane, Yerawada, Ganj Peth, Dapodi, Mundhwa, Hadapsar, and Karve Nagar.

  • Schools in Mumbai

iTeach runs 4 free schools in Mumbai in partnership with Navi Mumbai and Panvel Municipal Corporations. The schools cover a wider range of grades, from Grade 1 through Grade 10, depending on the school.

  • College to Career Programme

After students complete school, iTeach continues to support them for five years through its College to Career programme. This includes help with college admissions, course and scholarship guidance, near-peer mentorship through an alumni fellowship, career counselling, part-time and full-time job support, and one-on-one support for the most vulnerable students.

Impact

Since 2017, nearly 100% of iTeach students have passed the SSC Grade 10 board exam. 97% of alumni are enrolled in higher education, compared to the national average of 28%. Among alumni who have completed college, nearly 85% are working or pursuing postgraduate study.

For the 2025-26 SSC exam, 743 students appeared across 10 schools, with 99% passing and 72% scoring First Class or Distinction. iTeach Schools is a good fit for people with backgrounds in teaching, school operations, student support, counselling, or programme management who want to work directly with students and communities in urban Maharashtra.
