Railway Children India is a child rights organisation working to protect vulnerable children through child protection, education, family strengthening and community based interventions. The organisation partners with government agencies, communities and frontline stakeholders to create safe environments where children can learn, grow and thrive.

Role

Railway Children India is hiring a Life Skills Trainer to facilitate engaging and age-appropriate life skills sessions for children and adolescents in vulnerable communities. This full-time, field-based role involves travelling across programme locations, mentoring Peer Educators, collaborating with families and community stakeholders and creating safe, inclusive learning environments that promote leadership, wellbeing and child protection.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate interactive life skills sessions for children and adolescents using creative and participatory learning methods.
  • Create safe, inclusive and child-friendly learning environments.
  • Co-facilitate life skills sessions with Peer Facilitators and support their development.
  • Identify, train and mentor Peer Educators to become youth leaders.
  • Strengthen leadership, communication and facilitation skills among Peer Educators.
  • Encourage community participation and peer-led learning initiatives.
  • Design and adapt life skills curriculum based on WHO guidelines and community needs.
  • Assess programme effectiveness and improve sessions based on participant feedback.
  • Track attendance, participation and learning outcomes.
  • Maintain programme documentation, reports and session records.
  • Participate in review meetings with team members, parents and community stakeholders.
  • Uphold Railway Children India's Child Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct and organisational values.

Requirements

  • Graduate or Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a Life Skills Trainer or in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and mentoring abilities.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Good organisational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt learning methods for diverse groups.
  • Willingness to undertake extensive field travel.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
