Aga Khan Rural Support Programme

The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India), known as AKRSP(I), is a non-government development organisation that works with rural communities in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra. It is non-denominational, which means it serves people of every faith and background. The organisation gives direct support to local communities and acts as a catalyst, helping villages grow stronger and improve life for the families who live there.

Role

As IT Manager, you will shape how technology helps AKRSP(I) serve rural communities. You will make sure computers, networks and systems work well at the Ahmedabad head office and at field offices, keep the organisation's data safe, and help every team use digital tools to plan, track and improve their work. You will report to the Senior Manager, Admin, manage the IT Officer at head office, and guide the IT engineers based at field offices.

Responsibilities

  • Build and carry out a long-term IT and digital plan that supports the organisation's goals, and advise senior leaders on new technology and its risks.
  • Set clear IT policies and make sure the organisation follows IT laws, data protection rules, donor requirements and internal policies.
  • Manage servers, networks, cloud systems, Wi-Fi, printers and devices across head office and field offices so they stay fast, reliable and available.
  • Oversee IT equipment from purchase to disposal, and manage vendors through fair contracts and clear service targets that give good value for money.
  • Improve and connect the HR, procurement, finance and programme monitoring systems, and bring mobile and web tools into field work.
  • Strengthen data quality and safety, and build dashboards that help leaders and programme teams make good decisions.
  • Protect the organisation from cyber threats through regular security audits, access controls, backups, disaster recovery plans and staff awareness sessions.
  • Lead and mentor the IT team, run a helpdesk that solves problems quickly, and train staff at all levels to use digital tools with confidence.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in IT, computer science or a related field, with an MBA preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in IT management, including at least 3 years in a leadership or decision-making role.
  • A proven record of leading digital transformation and setting up enterprise systems.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud systems and cybersecurity, along with experience using HRMS, ERP and MIS platforms.
  • Good working skills in MS Teams, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and in data analysis software such as SPSS or STATA.
  • Experience in the development or non-profit sector is highly desirable, along with an understanding of the challenges rural communities face.
  • Clear communication, conflict resolution and stakeholder management skills, and comfort working with teams spread across many locations.
  • Based in or willing to move to Ahmedabad, and willing to travel to field locations.

Benefits

  • Work with a well-known NGO that supports rural communities across four states.
  • On-site and off-site training to help you keep learning.
  • A 5-day work week.
  • Medical insurance for you, your spouse and your children.
  • Maternity and paternity leave as per organisational policy.
  • 15 general leaves and 16.5 earned leaves each year, with unused earned leave paid out.
  • 10 public holidays, 3 optional holidays and an annual break every year.
  • An inclusive workplace that strongly encourages women, LGBTQ+ people and people with disabilities to apply.
