Manager - IT Infrastructure in Mumbai | Teach For India
Teach For India
Teach For India works toward a day when every child in India gets an excellent education, whatever their background. It runs a two-year Fellowship in which young people teach in under-resourced classrooms, and more than 5,000 of its Alumni now work at every level of the education system. Fellows have helped about 33,500 children from low-income families start on a different life path, and over 16,000 Teach For India students have taken their 10th grade board exams with a 95% pass rate. Over the next decade, it aims to grow 50,000 leaders who will work together to change the lives of 1 in 10 low-income children in its regions.
Role
As the Manager, IT Infrastructure, you will make sure every staff member and Fellow has steady, secure access to the computers, internet and software they need for their daily work. - Buy IT hardware and enterprise software through the purchase process, and manage the vendors who supply them.
- Keep records of all IT assets to plan maintenance, upgrades, retirements and future IT spending.
- Back up data and recover deleted or lost files for users.
- Run systems audits and review what they find.
- Put management-approved technology policies into practice and train staff on them.
- Renew enterprise software on time, make sure each team has enough licences, and ensure every device runs genuine licensed software.
- Spend time in classrooms to understand the work, speak up for educational equity, and support team goals and areas like recruitment, selection, fundraising, volunteering and movement building.
Requirements
- A graduate degree, preferably in Computer Science or Electronics and Telecommunication.
- 2-3 years of experience as an IT Manager or Technology Manager in a small or mid-sized organisation.
- A strong grasp of system administration, with sound problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Familiarity with Windows, Mac and Android, with experience in mobile device management tools or a Google or Microsoft certification in system administration as a plus.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Resourcefulness, a sense of ownership and the ability to find practical fixes and work to deadlines.
- Based in Mumbai or willing to move there.
- Willingness to write your own statement of purpose and essays in the application form, as answers written only with AI tools may lead to disqualification.
Benefits
- Be part of one of India's most established education movements as it grows its reach across the country.
- A challenging but flexible workplace where your growth and leadership development are tracked and supported.
- A workplace that puts staff well-being first so people can be their best selves.
