Working closely with government systems and community institutions, HelpAge India builds programmes that bring elderly care into the heart of India's rural development and livelihoods systems.

Role

HelpAge India is looking for a National Project Coordinator to lead a three-year pilot programme with DAY-NRLM that brings elderly care and active ageing into the Self Help Group system across multiple states. This person will be the national link between HelpAge India and NRLM, guiding state teams, building training systems, and making sure elderly inclusion becomes a lasting part of how these government programmes work.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate implementation of the elderly inclusion programme across pilot states
  • Act as the national point of contact between HelpAge India and DAY-NRLM
  • Work with state teams, government departments, and community institutions to align plans and timelines
  • Build training materials, guidelines, and monitoring tools, and lead trainings for state teams and caregivers
  • Track progress against goals, conduct field visits, and guide course correction
  • Support studies and reports that capture programme learnings and outcomes
  • Supervise and mentor state-level staff, and support learning exchange between states
  • Contribute to case studies, policy notes, and documentation of the programme's work

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Public Health, Development Studies, or a related field
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in rural development, livelihoods, public health, or community institution building
  • Experience working with NRLM, SRLM, or Self Help Group systems is strongly preferred
  • Experience managing programmes across multiple states and working with government stakeholders
  • Understanding of elderly care, community-based caregiving, or social protection systems is a plus
  • Experience in training and capacity building
  • Strong communication, coordination, and documentation skills
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to manage complex, multi-state work
  • Good relationship management and people skills
  • Willingness to travel extensively across pilot states

Benefits

  • Opportunity to shape a national pilot programme with real policy impact
  • Direct collaboration with government systems including DAY-NRLM and SRLMs
  • Leadership role mentoring state teams across the country
  • Work with an established and respected national organisation working on elderly care
