Role
You will work on the ground to plan and support service delivery for behaviour change and health service uptake among high-risk groups. Working alongside peer educators and other project staff, you will manage outreach activities, support referrals, maintain records, and ensure that communities are connected to the health services they need.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and regularly update micro-plans for each hotspot and monitor their implementation
- Build the capacity of peer educators to carry out outreach activities as per project guidelines
- Prepare monthly action plans for each hotspot and ensure adequate supply of condoms, needles, syringes, lubricants, and BCC materials
- Coordinate with the counsellor monthly to review sites with low service uptake and update plans accordingly
- Conduct at least 20 field visits per month to assigned areas, preferred providers, and referral centres
- Supervise peer educators, collect monthly reports, maintain peer diaries, and submit reports to the project office
- Identify and engage volunteers, potential peer educators, and community stakeholders to support smooth programme implementation
- Manage commodity supplies including condoms, needles, syringes, and IEC materials, and maintain distribution records
- Facilitate crisis response activities and ensure follow-up with referred clients
- Coordinate with the M&E assistant for accurate data recording and reporting
- Engage with local power structures and stakeholders to build support for the programme
- Mobilise community members for health camps, HIV testing, and counselling sessions
- Female Outreach Workers should additionally focus on referral and service delivery for female injecting drug users and female relatives of people who inject drugs
Requirements
- Minimum education up to Class 8 with good knowledge of the local community and local language
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in community outreach or health programmes
- Candidates from the target community such as female sex workers, MSM, transgender persons, migrants, or truckers are strongly preferred
- Peer educators who have performed well for at least 3 years and can read and write may also be considered
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in small, flexible teams
- Comfortable with data recording, report writing, and case study compilation
- Willing to spend at least 20 days per month in the field
