Product Manager – Health, Gender and Life Skills in Bengaluru | The/Nudge
The/Nudge Institute
The/Nudge Institute is an action institute working to build resilient livelihoods and end poverty in India. It works with women, farmers, tribal communities and young people across rural development, agriculture, skilling and economic inclusion, in partnership with more than 15 central and state governments. Its economic inclusion work spans 10 states and currently reaches over 1.5 million people, on the way to serving 25 million Indians. Through its incubator, accelerator and grand challenges, it has supported more than 200 social entrepreneurs, including Forbes 30 Under 30 honourees and Earthshot Prize winners. It was founded with the support of over 130 philanthropists, 40 corporates and 15 foundations. This role sits within The/Nudge's Economic Inclusion Programme, which uses the graduation approach to pull the poorest households out of poverty and helps governments and NGOs adopt that approach at scale.

Role
This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You will own the non-market outcomes strategy for the Economic Inclusion Programme, covering health, gender and life skills, from start to finish. That means turning the theory of change into structured, sequenced interventions, testing them in the field with rural households, and building them into the core programme. You do not need deep subject expertise in gender, health or psychosocial work. You do need the judgment to take content from government bodies, local experts and specialist partners and turn it into programme design that works for the poorest rural households.
Responsibilities
- Own the non-market outcomes strategy end to end, covering health, gender and life skills.
- Translate the theory of change into a structured, sequenced curriculum that runs across the three-year programme.
- Design and improve coaching and behaviour-change interventions, including module content and facilitation guides.
- Design sessions that work at both the household level and the group level.
- Turn what you learn in the field into programme design suited to the constraints of the poorest rural households.
- Run a fast cycle of testing, learning and improving by piloting interventions in the field.
- Bring in outside evidence and fold learnings quickly into the core programme.
- Identify and manage local partners, State Rural Livelihoods Mission resources and subject-matter experts.
- Work with those partners to co-design and co-deliver specialist content and to scale on-ground training.
- Partner with the Operations and Impact teams to build non-market interventions into existing programme delivery.
Requirements
- 8 or more years of experience in programme or product design, behaviour-change work, or social-sector interventions.
- Personal experience designing and improving structured coaching or behaviour-change interventions.
- Strong judgment about users and context, with the ability to turn what people tell you into what needs to be built.
- Ability to turn expert or government content into structured design that works in the field.
- A track record of scaling work through partners such as State Rural Livelihoods Missions and local organisations.
- Strong structured thinking, and comfort breaking a broad, unclear problem into a clear, sequenced programme.
- A bias to move fast, testing and improving as you go.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to spend significant time in the field in rural areas, with participants and frontline staff.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Written and spoken fluency in Hindi and English.
- A Master's degree or PhD in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Development Studies or a related field is an added advantage.
Benefits
- Work on a mission to lift millions of people out of ultra-poverty.
- Grow with a high-impact team and engage with a wide range of partners across India and globally.
- An L&D wallet, an individual development plan, and the chance to move into different roles inside the organisation.
- A hiring philosophy built on intent, attitude, smarts and skills, and people-centred policies.
- A product-based approach in an action-biased environment, with room to take big bets and act on them.
- An inclusive workplace that welcomes people of every religion, caste, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ethnicity and age.
