This role sits within Avanti's academic mentorship and career guidance programs, supporting government school students preparing for engineering entrance examinations such as JEE across Delhi and Punjab.

Role
The JEE Student Counsellor & Mentorship Associate will support government school students preparing for engineering entrance examinations such as JEE. The role involves student counselling, mentorship, academic tracking, career guidance, parent engagement, and coordination with schools and coaching partners to ensure students remain motivated and on track throughout the program.
Responsibilities
- Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions with students to understand academic goals, challenges, and aspirations
- Develop personalized mentorship plans for assigned students, with regular follow-up through calls, online meetings, and in-person interactions
- Monitor student attendance, test scores, assignments, and overall academic progress
- Identify students requiring additional academic or emotional support, coordinating with faculty and coaching partners
- Maintain detailed mentoring records and update the organization's database/LMS
- Conduct regular parent counselling sessions and coordinate with school principals, teachers, and district officials
- Guide students on JEE preparation strategies, engineering career pathways, scholarships, and higher education opportunities
- Support student selection, onboarding, and orientation activities
- Organize webinars, mentorship sessions, boot camps, and motivational workshops
- Maintain accurate student records and prepare weekly and monthly progress reports
Requirements
- Graduate in Science, Mathematics, or Engineering
- Candidate must belong to Delhi (or be Punjabi-speaking for Punjab-based roles)
- 1-2 years of experience in government school programs or NGO/CSR education projects
- 1-4 years of experience in counselling, mentoring, education, or ed-tech
- Experience working with government schools or education programs preferred
- Strong communication skills in Hindi and English (Punjabi mandatory for Punjab-based roles)
- Excellent counselling and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and CRM/LMS platforms
- Ability to analyze student performance data and recommend interventions
- Willingness to travel extensively within assigned districts and states
