Role

WRI India is seeking a highly motivated individual to join Bengaluru's Urban Development team to support efforts in institutionalizing and localizing climate action. As a knowledge partner to the city government, WRI India collaborates extensively with multiple stakeholders to advance a resilient, low-carbon, and livable Bengaluru. The candidate will support the team in localizing climate action through Ward-level Climate Action Plans and building institutional, political, and ecosystem capacities.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out on-ground and desk research to inform climate projects and policy interventions
  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholder groups, including government officials, partner organisations, and internal teams
  • Handle, analyze, and visualize research datasets
  • Support development of climate action solutions/projects and prepare dissemination materials
  • Conduct on-ground site surveys, provide technical support during project implementation, and support monitoring and evaluation of impact
  • Contribute to development of technical guidelines, presentations, and notes
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements
  • Prepare meeting notes, project reports, technical presentations, capacity-building modules, and outreach materials
  • Organize and document workshops, conferences, and consultation activities

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, Urban Resilience, Ecology, Biodiversity, Urban Design, Sustainable Development, or related fields
  • 2-4 years of experience in climate change, urban resilience, nature-based solutions, or community engagement
  • Fluency in Kannada and English (reading, writing, speaking) is necessary
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with government and other stakeholders
  • Quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis experience
  • Software skills in MS Office (mandatory); ArcGIS/QGIS and Illustrator/InDesign/Photoshop preferred
  • Ability to work well in multi-disciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
