Role

The Program Officer, AI Innovations will help India build a stronger AI innovation ecosystem while helping the Foundation's program teams use AI to improve outcomes in health, education, agriculture, and economic opportunity. This role connects technical work with real-world impact, working closely with government partners, researchers, and teams across the Foundation.

Responsibilities

• Work with partners across academia, industry, and government to identify and test AI solutions relevant to health, agriculture, education, and economic opportunity
• Support partnerships with government programs and private sector initiatives to bring in useful AI technologies
• Identify AI innovations from India that could work well in other low and middle income countries
• Help build fair and responsible ways to collect and share data for AI development
• Work with the Monitoring, Learning, and Evaluation team to test and validate AI solutions before they are used in programs
• Help create evaluation frameworks specific to health, education, and other program areas
• Support the development of policies, standards, and funding pathways that help AI solutions grow from small pilots to larger scale use
• Help turn early AI prototypes into reliable systems that others can trust and reuse
• Build and strengthen relationships with central and state government AI programs
• Rapidly build early AI prototypes and support internal learning so teams across the Foundation can use AI more effectively

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• At least 5 years of hands on experience in AI or digital innovation, solutions architecture, or product management, with responsibility for real projects used by real people
• Experience with AI enabled software, machine learning, AI model evaluation, or large language model deployment
• Comfortable making and explaining technical trade-offs, such as choosing between different AI approaches
• Strong teamwork skills and experience working across teams in complex settings
• Comfortable working with ambiguity and open-ended problems
• Strong communication skills, able to explain technical ideas to non-technical audiences
• Genuine motivation to use AI for public good and global health impact
• Able to travel domestically and internationally for up to 30% of the time
• Must be able to legally work in India without visa sponsorship
