Protsahan India Foundation works to end child abuse so that girls living in vulnerable situations can grow up with education, healthcare and safe spaces, and with greater freedom from violence. Girls and children who have faced abuse or violence get access to healing, care, support and gender justice, so their physical, social and mental well-being is looked after. Protsahan brings 21st-century skills to girls from socially excluded backgrounds, so they can keep learning on their own and build a stronger future. It also works with grassroots partners on healing childhood trauma through training, research and advocacy, strengthening the child protection system for children in remote parts of India. This role sits within Protsahan's Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning function, which turns field data and digital insights into evidence that programme teams can act on.

Role

The Program Officer, MEL makes sure Protsahan's programme data is collected regularly, kept accurate and analysed often, so teams can see what is working and what needs to change. The role works closely with programme teams to track implementation, spot gaps, follow outcomes and notice new trends. It covers both numbers and stories, turning complex findings into simple insights, reports and visuals, and it draws on many kinds of data, including digital applications, social media platforms and large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Put monitoring and evaluation plans, tools, formats and reporting systems into practice across Protsahan programmes and partners.
• Ensure programme data is collected systematically and on a regular schedule.
• Maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date programme records.
• Conduct field visits and data verification checks so reported data matches what is happening on the ground.
• Work with field teams so they understand and use monitoring data well.
• Collect and analyse quantitative and qualitative data from monitoring, assessments and evaluations, both primary and secondary.
• Run regular data quality checks to find gaps, inconsistencies, anomalies and collection problems.
• Identify patterns, trends and emerging issues in the data and share what they mean for programme decisions.
• Query and analyse data in BigQuery using SQL, and manage and report data in Excel.
• Support assessments and evaluation studies, including tool development, fieldwork, analysis and documentation.
• Analyse data from social media platforms, digital applications and large datasets to track engagement and interpret trends.
• Maintain and improve AI-enabled learning tools such as chatbots and digital assistants that help frontline staff with day-to-day protocol questions, keeping content accurate, current and in line with safeguarding requirements.
• Maintain Protsahan's repository of programme evidence, lessons learned, curriculum and facilitator resources, and contribute to periodic learning reviews.

Requirements

• 4-6 years of monitoring, evaluation, research and learning work, especially in the development sector.
• Quantitative or analytics-oriented coursework, taken in college or externally, given the data extraction, BigQuery and dashboarding expectations of this role.
• Working knowledge of AI chatbot tools and prompt design, applied in a programme, training or operations setting.
• Strong written communication in both Hindi and English.
• Willingness to travel to field sites.
• Research rigour, with careful practice on consent, data handling and methodology, including case data, girls' personal information and anything gathered during fieldwork.
• Analytical and critical thinking: the ability to look past the numbers, ask the right questions, and tell a surface-level trend apart from a real insight.
• AI literacy with judgment: able to keep a working chatbot running, and clear about where automation stops and human judgment must take over in programmes involving girls.
• Adaptability in a dynamic grassroots setting where priorities, systems and approaches shift with field realities.
• Ownership and resourcefulness, with the initiative to solve problems independently and with limited supervision.
• Collaboration and curiosity: able to work respectfully with diverse teams, listen to field perspectives and question existing approaches constructively.
• Knowledge of child safeguarding protocols is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of no-code or low-code chatbot and workflow-builder platforms, and of digital data extraction tools such as APIs, is an advantage.
• Experience with adolescent girls or communities affected by sexual and gender-based violence, migration or urban poverty is an advantage.
• Published or contributed research, evaluation and monitoring reports or articles are an advantage.
