By linking capable people to real opportunities, TNSIF has made a lasting difference for individuals, their families and their communities. This role sits within TNSIF's youth employability program, which trains college students and helps them move into their first formal sector jobs.

Role

As a Program Specialist (Soft Skills Trainer), you will help college students get ready for their first jobs. You will lead training sessions, mentor students one to one, prepare them for placements and stay with them through the whole program. You will spend much of your time at partner colleges, working with students from Tier 3 and Tier 4 colleges who are often the first in their families to aim for a corporate career.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver soft skills and employability training using the program curriculum, both in person and online.
  • Travel to partner colleges to run training sessions and student activities.
  • Reach out to students from Tier 3 and Tier 4 colleges and encourage them to join the program.
  • Interview and screen students to check if the program is right for them.
  • Teach workplace skills such as communication, interview preparation, group discussions, resume writing and professional behaviour.
  • Run pre-placement activities that prepare students for corporate jobs.
  • Counsel and mentor students one to one as they move into formal sector jobs.
  • Work with parents and college staff to build strong support for the program.
  • Keep student records, training reports and program trackers up to date.
  • Write up success stories, case studies and program updates.

Requirements

  • Freshers and experienced candidates are both welcome.
  • Excellent spoken English and strong presentation skills.
  • Confidence in public speaking and leading training sessions.
  • Prior experience in student engagement, training, volunteering or internships is preferred.
  • Ability to deliver sessions both in the classroom and online.
  • Comfortable travelling regularly to colleges to run training programs.
  • Ability to counsel and mentor young people with patience and care.
  • Comfortable working with diverse groups of students.
  • Good record keeping and simple report writing skills.
  • Energetic, adaptable and motivated to create real change for young people.

Benefits

  • Work directly with young people and see them start their careers.
  • Build strong skills in training, counselling and public speaking.
  • Gain hands-on experience in the development sector with an established non-profit.
  • A good starting point for freshers who want a career in youth development.
  • Competitive pay.
