Pravah was formed in 1993 with the mission to work on the prevention of social conflicts by developing social responsibility and personal leadership among young people. It believes social change happens through a deep mindset shift in individuals, alongside empowering socially excluded communities and shifting the attitudes of those in powerful decision-making positions. Pravah designs and delivers experiential learning and action programmes for diverse groups of young people across the country, trains teachers, supports youth-led initiatives, incubates new organizations, and engages in youth-focused public policy. It reaches over 15,000 young people annually, supports around 100 social entrepreneurs and youth organizations, and works with about 100 partners.

Role
The Programme Consultant, Strategic Communications will lead Pravah's brand building, narrative development, digital presence and event representation, working closely with programme teams to strengthen storytelling and communication capacity across the organization. This role offers close working proximity to senior leadership and a 360-degree grounding in organizational communications. Pravah asks for a minimum 2-year commitment to this role.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an annual visibility and communication strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Strengthen the organization's brand voice, visual identity and key messaging across audiences.
- Create frameworks that amplify youth-led stories and programmes, ensuring consistency of tone, language and aesthetics.
- Co-lead narrative building across digital, print and live formats, including newsletters, social media and podcasts.
- Support programme teams to capture authentic narratives, case studies and visuals for dissemination.
- Design knowledge products and reports for donor communication and ecosystem influence.
- Oversee social media strategy and analytics, and manage website updates.
- Explore new digital formats such as short videos, reels and podcasts for youth engagement.
- Manage press releases, media kits and event visibility.
- Curate Pravah's presence at national and international events, including talks, panels and collaborations.
- Prepare panel briefs and decks for representation opportunities.
- Capture and disseminate the organization's internal culture and narrative to strengthen internal visibility.
- Facilitate sessions on storytelling, documentation and social media use for youth participants and team members.
- Establish systems for consistent data, photo and story collection.
- Manage team members and interns, providing guidance and support for their growth.
- Contribute to organization-wide strategic planning, culture-building and cross-functional initiatives.
Requirements
- Postgraduate or graduate degree with 4 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication, writing and presentation skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
- Experience in narrative building and storytelling across digital, print and live formats.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Canva, PowerPoint and Mindmap, and MS Office; visual communication skills for knowledge products and event material are an advantage.
- Creative thinking and strong storytelling ability.
- Familiarity with AI tools for content creation, research and communications is an advantage.
- Demonstrated commitment to youth leadership and social justice, with a passion for leading impactful media campaigns.
- Self-driven, able to inspire others, meet commitments, and build relationships.
- Ability to strengthen fundraising systems and processes and coordinate meetings and events.
- Experience representing an organization at external events, panels or forums is an advantage.
- Prior experience managing or mentoring team members or interns.
- Willingness to travel.
- Fluency in English and Hindi.
