Pratham is one of India's largest education nonprofits, working for over 30 years to improve learning outcomes for children and young people. Each year, Pratham reaches more than 6 million children and youth across 25 states and Union Territories through direct community programs and partnerships with state and district governments. Its work spans early learning, girls' and women's education, and youth skilling.

Role

You will manage day-to-day HR operations, support hiring processes, and help build a strong, engaged workforce across Pratham's programs in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Bihar.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full hiring process, from sourcing and screening candidates to coordinating interviews and sending offer letters
  • Work with team leads to understand what each role needs
  • Onboard new employees and ensure a smooth joining experience -Conduct background and reference checks and maintain hiring records
  • Handle the full employee lifecycle, including joining, confirmation, and exit processes
  • Keep employee records accurate and up to date in HR systems
  • Draft HR documents such as contracts, offer letters, and experience letters
  • Make sure HR practices follow organisational policies and legal requirements
  • Answer employee questions on salary, benefits, and HR policies
  • Support employee engagement activities and welfare programs
  • Manage exit formalities including documentation and exit interviews
  • Maintain records related to grievances, disciplinary actions, and performance feedback
  • Prepare HR reports and dashboards, and support internal audits
  • Coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders across locations

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Human Resources
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in English and Hindi; knowledge of a regional language is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and good at solving problems
  • Comfortable using HR tools or ERP systems
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-moving environment
  • Ability to listen patiently and work without bias
  • Comfortable working with diverse teams across rural and urban settings
  • Willingness to travel within the state and to other Pratham offices
