Young Lives India is a leading think tank based in New Delhi, working on research, policy, evaluation, and interventions related to children, adolescents, and youth. This includes the Young Lives longitudinal study, running in four countries including India since 2002. Young Lives India works closely with the Government of India, state governments, national commissions, and UN and multilateral agencies to shape better policy for children and young people.
Role
Young Lives India is looking for a Senior Quantitative Researcher to lead research, analysis, and proposal writing for its studies on children and youth. You will design surveys, run advanced statistical analysis, oversee fieldwork, and turn findings into reports and policy briefs that help shape real policy decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead on Young Lives research, analysis and writing proposals.
- Carry out literature review.
- Develop survey tools and conduct data analysis.
- Prepare questionnaires and survey manuals.
- Set up data quality checks and quality assurance for quantitative data collection.
- Write summary reports and maintain clear documentation of survey process
- Conduct analysis of data using advanced econometric and statistical models and techniques to address specific research questions.
- Communicate and co-ordinate regularly with field research team.
- Provide oversight to all field-work.
- Write summary and analytical reports/ working and journal papers, policy briefs etc...
Requirements
- PhD from a reputed institution in economics, statistics, demography, development studies, or a related quantitative social science field
- Minimum 7 years of experience conducting quantitative research
- Strong knowledge of statistics, econometrics, and research and evaluation methodology
- Strong analytical skills, with experience using Stata and analysing large datasets like NFHS or NSSO
- Experience designing and conducting surveys and evaluations
- Strong writing and communication skills, with at least 5 peer-reviewed journal publications
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, ideally with experience managing research teams in multidisciplinary settings
- Good personal organisation skills, with experience managing a heavy and varied workload
- Proficiency in Stata is essential; experience with R is also required
- Willingness to travel extensively
