Yuva Skill Foundation

Yuva Skill Foundation works in vocational skill development in India, helping young people and working craftspeople get their skills formally recognised. It runs skill assessments that check what a person can actually do with their hands and their trade knowledge, so that their ability is certified and counted. This matters most in traditional sectors like textile, handloom and handicraft, where deep skill is often passed down through families and workshops but never written down. Recognition opens doors to better work, fairer pay and further training. This role sits within Yuva Skill Foundation's assessment function, which conducts practical, standards-based evaluations of candidates at assessment centres across the country. banner03.jpg

Role

As a Skill Assessor for the textile, handloom and handicraft sector, you will judge whether candidates meet the required competency standards for their trade. You will run practical assessments, watch and test real work performance, check trade knowledge, and record your findings accurately and fairly. Your judgement decides whether a person's skill is formally recognised, so objectivity and care are central to the work.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct practical and competency-based skill assessments for candidates in the textile, handloom and handicraft trades
  • Evaluate candidates against the defined assessment standards for their trade
  • Verify practical skills, trade knowledge and actual work performance
  • Assess candidates objectively, without bias towards any candidate or centre
  • Maintain accurate and complete assessment records for every candidate
  • Follow assessment quality and compliance guidelines at all times
  • Coordinate with candidates before and during assessments so they understand the process
  • Work with assessment centres to arrange and run assessment sessions smoothly
  • Coordinate with internal teams on schedules, reporting and documentation
  • Travel to assessment locations across India when required

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Textile, Handloom, Handicraft, Fashion, Design or a related field
  • At least 2 years of relevant industry experience
  • Practical, hands-on knowledge of the textile, handloom or handicraft sector
  • Understanding of how work quality is judged in the trade you assess
  • Ability to conduct fair and objective assessments
  • Good documentation skills and attention to detail in record keeping
  • Good communication skills, including with candidates who may be nervous or new to formal assessment
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with centres, candidates and internal teams
  • Willingness to travel to assessment locations as required
  • Comfort working independently at assessment sites

Benefits

  • Contribute to the formal recognition of skill and competency in India's textile, handloom and handicraft trades
  • Work directly with craftspeople and artisans whose skills deserve certification
  • Assignments across India, with exposure to different centres and regional craft traditions
  • Use your industry experience in a role that shapes standards for the sector
  • Flexible, assignment-based engagement alongside your existing work in the trade
