Sr Associate / Lead – Placement Support in Chennai | Bhumi | ₹5.5-6 LPA
Bhumi
Bhumi is a non-profit that works with young people across India to strengthen public education and build a generation of changemakers. Its work is centred on the holistic development of children, and on building an ecosystem inside government schools so that school leaders and teachers can support students well. The Bhumi Fellowship is a full-time paid two-year programme that develops educational changemakers to lead the next movement in the public education system. Fellows work to equip students with the knowledge, adaptability and resilience they need to thrive. This role sits within Bhumi's Fellowship team, which supports fellows through their two years and into what comes next.

Role
The Sr Associate / Lead for Placement Support helps final year fellows move into meaningful pathways after their fellowship. The work covers three things: building fellows' awareness of the wider social sector, opening access to jobs and higher education, and preparing each fellow to take their next step with confidence. You will support the design and running of a structured, year-long placement journey, working alongside one placement support team member, the Programme Managers, and partner organisations outside Bhumi.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead a year-long placement journey for fellows, from early awareness of career options to access to the right opportunities.
- Review what is working in the placement journey and improve the approach based on fellow needs and trends in the sector.
- Plan and deliver sessions that prepare fellows for careers, higher education and the wider social sector.
- Facilitate leadership connections and exposure sessions so fellows can explore different career pathways.
- Help fellows make informed decisions about their future through one to one and group guidance.
- Build and manage relationships with 100+ organisations to create a steady pipeline of opportunities.
- Create access to jobs, internships and exposure visits that fellows can use during and after the fellowship.
- Work closely with Programme Managers to guide 30+ fellows through their post-fellowship journey.
- Track each fellow's readiness and make sure no one is left without support.
- Drive towards 100% placement for all fellows by monitoring outcomes year on year.
- Build systems and records that make placement results consistent and measurable.
Requirements
- An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in any discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience.

- Ability to track progress and improve the approach based on data and feedback.
- Comfortable facilitating sessions for groups of 20 to 50 people.
- Awareness of the non-profit sector landscape in India.
- Strong written communication for outreach to partner organisations.
- Strong verbal communication for sessions, partner meetings and fellow conversations.
- Willingness to be based in Chennai or Coimbatore.
- Available to start immediately.
- There is no age criteria for this role.
Benefits
- Work directly with 30+ fellows at the point where their careers begin.
- Build and hold relationships with more than 100 organisations across the social sector.

- Close work with Programme Managers and the wider Bhumi Fellowship team.
- Salary of ₹5.5 to ₹6 Lakhs per year, set by candidate profile.
- Full time role with a clear reporting line and a defined team.
