Think Equal

Think Equal is a global nonprofit that helps young children learn kindness, empathy and respect for others in their earliest years. It works with governments to bring social-emotional learning into the places where young children already learn, so that these lessons reach large numbers of children and last over time. In Meghalaya, Think Equal is working with the Social Welfare Department and the Meghalaya Early Childhood Development Mission (MECDM) to introduce its programme step by step across 6,188 Anganwadi Centres. This role sits within Think Equal's Meghalaya programme, which works through existing government systems to make the programme practical for frontline workers and sustainable over time.

Role

As Training & Project Coordinator, you will help bring the Think Equal programme to life in Anganwadi Centres across your assigned districts. Working under the Meghalaya State Manager, you will train and support government teams at the state, district, block and sector levels, including District Social Welfare Officers, CDPOs, District Programme Managers, Lady Supervisors, ECD Fellows and Anganwadi Workers. You will spend much of your time in the field, watching how the programme works in practice, helping people solve problems, and making sure it fits smoothly into everyday Anganwadi work.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate programme activities with the Social Welfare Department, MECDM and district, block and sector officials across your assigned districts.
  • Align Think Equal activities with existing Anganwadi routines, government calendars, training platforms and review meetings.
  • Track agreed activities, responsibilities and timelines with the State Manager and government counterparts, and work together on practical fixes when problems or delays come up.
  • Lead specialised training for ECD Fellows, DPMs, Supervisors and CDPOs so they can mentor Anganwadi Workers and check the quality of implementation.
  • Visit Anganwadi Centres regularly to observe the programme in action, understand frontline realities and offer helpful support alongside government staff.
  • Observe training sessions and classroom practice, spot where more support is needed, and adjust how training is delivered.
  • Facilitate regular sessions where frontline workers reflect on their work, share what they have learned and solve problems together.
  • Support baseline and endline assessments, centre observations, focus group discussions and surveys, including data collection, quality checks, documentation and reporting.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in education, early childhood development or social-sector programme implementation.
  • Experience working with government departments or with state, district and block-level systems.
  • Experience running training for educators, frontline workers, community practitioners or government staff.
  • Strong facilitation, relationship-building, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional working proficiency in English and in Khasi or Garo.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly across Meghalaya, including to remote locations, and to coordinate at times with colleagues in other time zones.

Benefits

  • Monthly consultancy fee of USD 800.
  • Approved travel and accommodation costs for programme work are reimbursed separately.
  • A chance to shape early childhood learning for children across thousands of Anganwadi Centres in Meghalaya.
  • Close work with state and district government teams on a large public programme.
