Role
The Program Officer is a leadership-focused role dedicated to strengthening urban health systems. You will lead the mentoring of ASHA workers and coordinate with government health centers to ensure life-saving health services reach those who need them most in Bhiwandi.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and execution of the ASHA Mentoring Project across 19 health centers.
- Coordinate training sessions for Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) staff and community health workers.
- Manage and supervise field staff, providing regular guidance to ensure project goals are met.
- Collaborate with municipal corporation officials and hospital staff to improve referral systems for patients.
- Facilitate community meetings to ensure local health committees remain active and effective.
- Monitor data collection and maintain accurate reports for internal use and donor requirements.
- Advocate with high-level health officials to resolve operational challenges and improve service delivery.
Requirements
- Graduate degree in any discipline.
- 5 to 10 years of professional experience in the social sector.
- Prior experience working with Urban Primary Health Centers (UPHCs) and mentoring ASHA workers is highly preferred.
- Excellent command over spoken and written Hindi and Marathi, with working knowledge of English.
- Strong technical skills in MS Office and experience with data management tools (e.g., ComCare).
- Proven leadership and team supervision skills with the ability to troubleshoot field-level challenges.
- High level of integrity, time management, and a willingness to travel within community settings.
