Shield Foundation is a Mumbai-based non-profit working to improve the lives of people in underserved communities. Through programmes in skill development, education, healthcare awareness, women's empowerment, and livelihoods, the Foundation works to bring meaningful and lasting change to the communities it serves.

Role

The Social Worker will work directly in the field to engage communities, support beneficiaries, and help run Shield Foundation's programmes across Dharavi, Chembur, and Mankhurd. This is a hands-on role that combines community outreach, beneficiary support, programme coordination, and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field visits, awareness sessions, and community events to identify, mobilise, and engage beneficiaries for Foundation programmes.
  • Assess beneficiary needs, provide ongoing guidance and follow-up, and help them access government schemes and social welfare services.
  • Help plan and run community development programmes in health, training, and livelihoods; coordinate with trainers, field staff, volunteers, and partner organisations.
  • Maintain beneficiary records, prepare field reports, case studies, success stories, and monthly updates; collect data for monitoring and evaluation.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with government agencies, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and CSR partners; represent the organisation at community and external events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work (BSW or MSW).
  • Freshers with relevant internship or fieldwork experience are welcome. Prior experience in community development, NGO projects, health, or education is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Good documentation and report-writing skills; basic proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Email.
  • Willing to travel within Mumbai for field activities.
  • Problem-solving and counselling skills are an added advantage.
