About the Role
Location: Remote (Option to work out of Bengaluru office)
Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Duration: 9 months (with possible extension)
Salary: ₹80,000 - ₹90,000 per month
As a Technological Systems Analyst at CIS, you will engage in critical analysis of technological systems and their impact on security, privacy, and freedom of expression. You will work closely with grassroots communities, assisting in developing and deploying inclusive alternatives. CIS encourages diversity and welcomes applicants from marginalised communities.
Responsibilities
- Research and document instances of online censorship and privacy violations by state and corporate actors.
- Conduct network measurements to analyse and report internet interference by ISPs and governments.
- Develop strategies for the prevention, detection, and mitigation of digital security threats, focusing on human rights defenders and grassroots organisations.
- Critically evaluate technological systems from a public interest perspective, recommending secure and privacy-enhanced alternatives.
Qualifications & Skills
- Working knowledge of computer networks, information security, and technological architectures.
- 3-5 years of experience in developing, deploying, or securing software in academic or industry settings.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise way.
- Degree in Computer Science and Engineering or equivalent (preferred).
- Proven ability to independently design and execute research projects.
