Role
As a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, you will screen and support adolescents facing mental health challenges in schools and communities. You will work closely with teachers, parents, counsellors, and health staff to build a strong mental health support system for young people across Thane and M East locations.
Responsibilities
- Screen adolescents in schools and communities for mental health concerns and plan suitable support with the programme team
- Provide counselling and basic assessments at Adolescent Friendly Health Clinics in urban health centres and hospitals
- Train teachers to spot students who may need mental health support
- Support and guide school counsellors and teachers in handling student cases
- Conduct parenting workshops and psychoeducation sessions for parents
- Build the capacity of programme staff to run sessions on stress, emotional resilience, and mental health
- Help develop and supervise a group of youth peer educators in the community
- Conduct and support capacity building workshops with community-level counsellors
- Supervise counselling sessions run by peer educators and give them helpful feedback
- Maintain accurate case notes, assessments, and documentation as required
- Support ICDS and health post staff with mental health skills
- Take part in peer supervision and learning sessions with other clinical psychologists
- Help the EHSAS team introduce mental health work in new schools and locations
Requirements
- Postgraduate degree in Counselling or Clinical Psychology
- 2 to 3 years of experience in psychotherapeutic or clinical practice preferred; freshers with relevant exposure are welcome to apply
- Good understanding of mental health screening, assessment, and care planning for adolescents
- Comfortable working with diverse groups including teachers, parents, community members, and health staff
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex topics in simple, accessible ways
- Patient, empathetic, and sensitive when working with young people facing mental health challenges
- Able to manage fieldwork across multiple locations and adapt to changing programme needs
- Organised with attention to maintaining proper records and documentation
