Role
The Community Organizer will run structured group mentoring sessions for ASHAs (Accredited Social Health Activists) across 20 Urban Primary Health Centres in Bhiwandi. The goal is to build their confidence, sharpen their skills, and help them deliver better health services in their communities.
Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare group mentoring sessions for ASHAs across UPHCs, with clear agendas and learning materials based on field needs and identified skill gaps
- Conduct regular, participatory mentoring sessions that encourage peer learning, open discussion, and direct application of skills in community work
- Track action points from each session, follow up on progress, and provide ongoing support to help ASHAs address ground-level challenges
- Coordinate with UPHC medical officers, PHNs, ANMs, and ASHAs through review meetings and day-to-day communication to ensure smooth planning and problem-solving
- Give structured feedback to UPHC teams on ASHA performance, learning needs, and areas requiring additional support
- Maintain accurate records of all mentoring sessions including attendance, topics, discussions, and action points; document challenges and steps taken
- Enter data into the CommCare app without errors and prepare a monthly case story capturing field learning and impact
Requirements
- HSC (12th standard) or higher qualification
- 1 to 3 years of experience in the social sector, with hands-on work at Urban Primary Health Centres and with ASHAs
- Prior experience in mentoring or group facilitation is preferred
- Good knowledge of ASHA roles, responsibilities, and the incentive structure
- Fluency in Hindi and Marathi (spoken and written)
- Comfortable working with small groups and creating a safe space for learning
- Empathetic, patient, and able to support others through challenges without judgement
- Reliable, honest, and takes full ownership of tasks
- Adaptable to changing field conditions and different learning needs
- Proactive able to spot issues and act without waiting to be told
