Role
Build and manage digital tools and websites that improve public health and support global innovation through technology and AI.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, testing, and maintenance of web applications and APIs using Python.
- Manage backend services using FastAPI, Django, or Flask to ensure they are fast and secure.
- Build user-friendly website interfaces using ReactJS that follow accessibility standards (WCAG).
- Create interactive data dashboards to help users visualize and understand health information.
- Coordinate with data science teams to turn complex analytical data into helpful digital tools.
- Manage database design and optimization using PostgreSQL for better performance.
- Lead the deployment of products to ensure they work reliably even in areas with slow internet.
- Manage technical documentation and share lessons learned to strengthen team knowledge.
- Support user testing and feedback loops to improve digital solutions over time.
- Coordinate with global teams to ensure code follows open-source best practices and governance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 8 years of experience building and launching professional web applications.
- Experience working in public health, government, or social impact sectors.
- Strong skills in Python and backend frameworks like FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
- Proficiency in ReactJS or similar frontend frameworks for building interfaces.
- Experience with PostgreSQL database management and RESTful API design.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure and version control using Git.
- Knowledge of software testing and application security principles like OWASP.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to people who do not have a tech background.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
- Experience handling sensitive health data and working with global distributed teams.
- Knowledge of digital health standards like FHIR or DHIS2 and containerisation₹ (Docker) is a plus.
